The Planets in Human Design
Every activation in your bodygraph comes from a planet. At two moments in time — the instant of your birth and a point roughly 88 days earlier — the position of each planet against the wheel of 64 gates is recorded, and those positions become the gates and channels that light up your chart.
There are thirteen planetary activations in Human Design: the Sun, Earth, both Nodes of the Moon, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Each is calculated twice — once for your conscious Personality (the black side of the chart) and once for your unconscious Design (the red side).
Not every planet carries equal weight. The Sun and Earth together account for roughly 70% of the information that imprints your design; the remaining planets fill in the texture around that core theme.

The Personality planets describe what you are consciously aware of — the qualities you recognize as you. The Design planets describe the body's own intelligence, set before you were born and largely invisible to the conscious mind; others often see your Design more clearly than you do.
Start with the Sun. It is the single most important activation in the chart, and everything else orbits the theme it sets.
