The Left Angle Cross of Industry 2 (29/30 | 20/34)
The Left Angle Cross of Industry 2 is a Transpersonal Destiny cross. The Personality Sun is Gate 29, the Sacral Center's gate of Perseverance and Commitment, in the Collective Abstract (Understanding) circuit. This variant of the Industry cross enters its transpersonal mission through the most demanding of the four gates — the Sacral's "yes, I will continue" quality that defines genuine commitment as distinct from initial enthusiasm, obligation, or social agreement. Where the Industry 1 leads with Gate 30's desire, this variant leads with the sustained follow-through that genuine desire requires.
The Gates
- Gate 29 (Sacral): The Gate of Commitment
- Gate 30 (Solar Plexus): The Gate of Desire
- Gate 20 (Throat): The Gate of the Now
- Gate 34 (Sacral): The Gate of Power of the Great
The Theme
Like the Industry 1, this cross contains the complete Channel 34-20 — the only channel in Human Design that connects the Sacral Center directly to the Throat Center. Gate 34 (Sacral) and Gate 20 (Throat) together form the "highway of energy" that gives the Industry cross family its characteristic quality: long-lasting, dynamic, manifesting-generator-level busyness that sustains itself when the Sacral is genuinely engaged. Anyone born with this cross is a Manifesting Generator, and the entire function of Channel 34-20 depends on the Sacral response being authentic.
Because the Personality Sun is Gate 29, the conscious experience of this cross opens with the quality of genuine Sacral commitment. Gate 29 is not the gate of enthusiasm or initial excitement — those belong to Gate 30. Gate 29 is the Sacral's deepest follow-through capacity: the quality of staying in genuine engagement through the phases when enthusiasm has passed, when the work is difficult, when quitting would be the path of least resistance. Gate 29's commitment is not effort-based willpower but the specific quality of the Sacral's "yes" remaining consistent through the full arc of what has been begun.
Ra's teaching on Gate 29 is precise: "True commitment originating from the core will engender luck." This is the specific promise of Gate 29 at its highest — not that commitment guarantees a specific outcome, but that genuine Sacral commitment, as distinct from obligation or false agreement, produces the quality of being in the right place at the right time, of life flowing with rather than against the cross's direction. The Industry 2 that is operating from genuine Gate 29 commitment encounters the specific opportunities, people, and circumstances that its direction requires.
Gate 30, the Personality Earth, grounds the commitment in the Solar Plexus awareness of genuine desire. As the Earth gate, Gate 30 provides the directional check: Gate 29's follow-through is not directed at whatever has been agreed to regardless of desire, but at what is genuinely wanted — the Solar Plexus recognition of what is worth experiencing, worth the sustained energy of full commitment. Gate 30 ensures the commitment has direction and emotional authenticity rather than being the grim persistence of someone obligated to a course they never genuinely chose.
The Design side carries Gates 20 and 34. Gate 20 as the Design Sun means the present-moment expression of Channel 34-20 — the "now" quality, the individual contemplative awareness that becomes pure action when connected to the Sacral — operates below conscious awareness. Gate 34 as the Design Earth means the raw Sacral power, the "Power of the Great," is the unconscious foundation: Channel 34-20's enormous energy is always available as the ground from which Gate 29's conscious commitment acts.
The transpersonal quality of this variant: people pass through the Industry 2's life when they need to find the work they are willing to actually commit to — not declare commitment to, not plan to commit to, but genuinely engage with in the Sacral sense. The cross demonstrates through its own path what genuine commitment backed by enormous power looks like: not the grinding persistence of someone forcing themselves through obligation, but the specific sustained vitality of someone whose Sacral response has been fully honored.
The Shadow
Gate 29 in the shadow produces the central shadow of this variant: false commitment. This shadow is precise: starting without commitment or genuine engagement, a lack of real interest inviting misery into endeavors, quitting, blindly committing, dishonesty to self. For the Industry 2 with Gate 29 as the Personality Sun, this shadow is the most directly experienced: the cross that has said yes from obligation, expectation, or the desire to appear committed now has Channel 34-20's enormous power running in a direction the Sacral never actually chose. The result is the lethargic workaholic — enormous power, no genuine direction.
Gate 30 in the shadow provides the underlying cause: the desire has been suppressed or misidentified, so Gate 29's commitment has nothing genuine to ground itself in. Gate 20 in the Design shadow is the presence that has become frantic avoidance. Gate 34 in the Design shadow is the raw Sacral force that has become destructive or blocked.
The Gift
The Industry 2's specific gift is the demonstration of what sustained, genuine, powerful commitment looks like over a life — what becomes possible when Gate 29's follow-through, backed by Channel 34-20's extraordinary energy and grounded in Gate 30's genuine desire, is maintained through the full arc of what has been genuinely begun. This fosters a deep trust in life — the cross that has committed genuinely and followed through develops a specific quality of trust that is received by others as its own form of inspiration.
Living This Cross
People pass through the Industry 2's life when they need to find what they are willing to commit to with their actual Sacral response rather than with their intentions or social persona. The cross does not tell them what to commit to; it demonstrates through its own committed path what the quality of genuine Sacral follow-through looks like.
The question to hold: What do you desire to bring into the world? What passion of yours can you bring to others?
The low mantra: I wouldn't have been able to champion my interests unless I went through a period of impassivity.
